September is NICU awareness month. Let’s start by saying today last year as I awaited the arrival of my baby boy I never imagined the reality of being a NICU mom . Through our journey and 5 day hospital stay I learned the true empathy of how it felt to have a baby in the NICU and the sadness of going home before your baby. We anticipated the visits, bonding through skin to skin, breastfeeding and reading him stories. I’ll never forget how excited I was to get that call from the NICU saying we could finally get to spend the night with him because he’d be discharged to go home the following day. I cried after he completed his hearing test and received his NICU graduate cap to go home. It was one of the greatest days of my life. #nicuawarenessmonth #nicugraduate #nicumom Any other NICU families?
